Indulging in this Seafood Eases Arthritis Pain by 30%

Image
Indulging in this Seafood Eases Arthritis Pain by 30% It’s no fun when your joints have been clubbed by arthritis. So we have just one question: who would you reach out to first if you could significantly reduce the pain from arthritis? Or maybe, instead of hugging someone special, you’d just do a dance for joy. Whatever floats your boat, you know. In a study, community physicians from New York, Lancaster, Reading and Dallas chose 53 volunteers with mild to moderate osteoarthritis. The patients were given a supplement that had an extract of green-lipped mussels that are harvested in New Zealand. In fact, the Maoris who live there have been aware of the health benefits of these mussels for nearly 100 years. The volunteers were asked to take the supplements for 3 months. They were followed-up regularly on a monthly basis and also two weeks after the end of the trial. The researchers compared the pain and symptoms before and after they took supplements. A well-established scale (Western

Do This 6000 Times Every Day to Reverse Arthritis

Do This 6000 Times Every Day to Reverse Arthritis “C’mon now!” you’re thinking. “I mean…who wants to do something 6000 times every day?” And you have a point. Except that when it comes to beating arthritis, it’s kind of worth it. Just think about it: you do this 6000 times per day, and you’ll be reversing arthritis. So you’ll have more freedom to do the things you love. Plot twist: doing this is actually fun and easy. Really. As surprising as it might sound, walking for an hour every day can actually help alleviate the pain and swelling caused by osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is a condition of pain and swelling of the joints that occurs with age, due to bone weakness and degradation. People with osteoarthritis might find it difficult to walk, climb stairs and even getting up from the bed or a chair. But a research study conducted on nearly 1800 patients in the department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training at Boston University recommends walking at least 6000 steps every day t

This Common Household Cleaner Cures Arthritis and Improves Health

This Common Household Cleaner Cures Arthritis and Improves Health What you have below: a link that will show you the household cleaner that helps to eliminate arthritis in your body. You read that right. It’s a household cleaner. Not some fancy-schmancy drug from Big Pharma. Actually, this household cleaner kind of scared the pants off the Big Pharma industry. It’s that good. Boron (found in Borax) is a naturally occurring mineral, extracted from dried salt lakes. Normally, a healthy diet with unprocessed and organically grown fruits and vegetables provides about 2 to 5 mg of boron per day. However, harsh soil fertilizers and unhealthy cooking methods greatly reduce the intake of boron from food. Nowadays, due to the increase of chemical soil fertilizers and processed food, our boron intake has been greatly reduced compared to 50 or 100 years ago. And that led to a significant uptick in diseases related to joint inflammation, such as arthritis. In 1960, Australian plant and soil scie

How Pain Killers Harm Arthritis Patients (And What To Do Instead)

Image
If you have pain, why not grab an occasional painkiller? No, stop, think! Because a new study reveals how painkillers can be extremely harmful for people suffering arthritis. It’s not just because of the side effects. In 2015, researchers published a survey of existing back pain studies in Revista de Saúde Pública, a journal of the University of São Paulo, finding that around 20% of people over the age of 39 complain of lower back pain—worldwide. Very few of these cases involve arthritis, but when it does, it is a condition called axial spondyloarthritis. Axial spondyloarthritis is a relatively serious problem, as it increases your chance of a spinal fracture late in life—and because it can cause irreversible bone damage and osteoporosis. Thus, it is important that it is diagnosed and treated as early as possible. It is possible to see this condition on an MRI scan. The most visible sign is swelling of your spine or sacroiliac joints. But it is the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug

Weird Arthritis and Heart Attack Link Discovered

Image
The journal Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases recently revealed a shocking study linking arthritis and cardiovascular diseases. It looks like there is the same underlying cause for both diseases. So if you’re suffering from arthritis and also have high cholesterol or high blood pressure, the chances are it’s directly linked. The good news is that if you take the right steps, you can cure both diseases in one blow. The scientists examined the medical records of Americans with arthritis that were also registered for Medicare. Their average age was 69 and 79% of them were women. All the subjects were required to have had multi-biomarker disease activity tests performed to test the severity of their arthritis, and the records were also examined to find cases of hospitalization for pneumonia, sepsis, and heart attack. The scientists also obtained information regarding the severity of coronary heart disease. Of the 34,000 subjects, they could clearly see that those with higher disease acti

Cheap Tea Treats Arthritis (New study)

Image
Various studies have found that this tea can lower bad cholesterol, reduce your risk of heart disease, and improve diabetes. And now, according to a new study published in the journal Arthritis and Rheumatology, it is also an amazing remedy for arthritis. Best of all, it’s dirt cheap and can be found everywhere. A research team led by an academic at Washington State University College of Pharmacy in Spokane discovered this amazing arthritis remedy in the form of epigallocatechin-3-gallate, or EGCG. This is a polyphenol that is abundant in green tea. They divided rats with rheumatoid arthritis in their ankles into two groups, one that received EGCG, and another received a placebo. The fact that the swelling improved in the joints of the rats that were fed with EGCG did not really come as a surprise, as researchers have previously found that this substance has anti-inflammatory effects that worked against arthritis. But how does this work? You see, EGCG inhibits the activity of TAK1, a

This Food Item Relieves Arthritis Better Than Pain Killers

Image
An interesting new study, published in the Journal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, shows that an unpretentious and cheap herb relieves pain better than common NSAID ibuprofen. What’s more, you can get this dirt-cheap herb in most supermarkets and all health food stores, either fresh or as a supplement extract. Better yet, it provides many more health benefits without the side effects. Researchers asked 38 college-age women with painful menstruation to take either 400mg of cinnamon powder, 400mg of ibuprofen, or a starch powder as a fake treatment. No one involved in the study knew which substance each participant received. Researchers monitored the women’s pain severity and duration throughout the day to see which substance worked best. The cinnamon group experienced less pain than the ibuprofen and fake treatment groups for the first few hours, up to four hours, when there was no longer a difference between them and the ibuprofen group. Needless to say, the suffering of the fake

Is Rheumatoid Arthritis Caused By Your Nose?

Image
Most people think of rheumatoid arthritis as a genetic condition in which our immune systems attack our healthy joints. And there is little we can do about that, right? Nothing could be further from the truth, according to a new study in The Journal of Rheumatology . What prompted the question on the relationship between upper respiratory tract diseases and rheumatoid arthritis (RA)? The authors noticed mounting scientific evidence suggesting that RA could originate in sites with inflamed mucosa, such as in the lungs. After all, smoking is one of the strongest risk factors for RA, and smoking causes inflammatory infections of the mucosa in the lungs. Additionally, the existing research shows that toxins like silica and coal contribute to RA, and both of these also cause lung inflammation. Research has also established that inflammatory lower respiratory tract infections like asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease could contribute to the development of RA. Given all this evi
